Ladies Hodi-Hodi Zanzibar Beach Tour
This Tour has been created from scratch to uniquely appeal to a small group of Ladies. We do our utmost to make sure that there is enough free time to enjoy the Beach activities & relax, combined with a handful of excursions to stimulate and allow you to understand the locals, their history & soak up their culture.
Zanzibar is the perfect destination if you’re looking for an exotic yet fairly affordable Breakaway relatively close to home.
Zanzibar conjures up exotic and romantic images for good reason. Imagine crystal-clear water, pristine beaches, cultural treasures and lush plantations. Its rich history is centred around the main Stone Town – once the capital of an empire spanning continents and from where famous explorers such as David Livingstone and Henry Stanley began their journeys of discovery.
Zanzibar, an archipelago of many small islands, is a semi-autonomous area of Tanzania lying some 25 miles from the coast of the Indian Ocean. The two main islands are PEMBA Island, to the north, and the larger southerly UNGUJA Island, or Zanzibar as it’s widely known. Around two-thirds of the 1.3m population live here, with most settled in the densely populated west. Outside of a handful of main towns, most people live in small villages – trading, subsistence farming, or living off the sea.
The reefs are rich in marine biodiversity, making them ideal for snorkelling and diving and with miles of beaches of the softest white sands, fringed with coconut palms, it is a classic tropical paradise.
It’s these stunning scenes and the laid-back lifestyle that attracts visitors from all over the world.
This cultural & ethnic melting pot makes for a fascinating holiday in a land which has little changed over the years and where the people live together in unusual harmony.
Outside of the Beach activities, snorkelling & swimming, there are various excursions included in your package, one being a visit to Stone Town, with its lovely old architecture and its winding narrow alleyways. Expect to have all of your senses heightened as you begin to stroll through its streets. The smell of the street food including chapattis, samosas and roasting mielies will be all too inviting. You’ll find stalls selling fruits and all kinds of aromatic spices. On each turn, you will come across locals playing Bao (a traditional board game) while watching the passers-by.
The rich and colourful history of Zanzibar stretches far back over twenty thousand years. The Bantu people from the African mainland were the first to settle in Zanzibar. Arab and Persian emigrants began to settle in Zanzibar around the 7th Century after fleeing their war-torn countries. The traders used the islands as bases during their trade voyages between Arabia, India and Africa. They traded in gold, ivory, ebony, tortoise shells and slaves. In return, the local traders received cloth, beads and porcelain. You will be taken on your private boat for a half-day excursion to one of the diving and snorkelling meccas of the world, Mnembe atoll reef.
Your home away from home in Zanzibar is Hodi Hodi Beach Villas, a perfect location to enjoy the wonders of Zanzibar. Located less than an hour from the capital Stone Town and situated on the famed Matemwe Beach. A warm, calm lagoon and 10 kilometres of serene, uncrowded powder-white sands just meters from your bedroom, await you!
