Spend 4 days hiking the Africa On Foot Wilderness Trail through the Maseke / Balule Game Reserve, one of the most northerly, remote areas of the Greater Kruger. The terrain is rocky but an easy-going walk, covering quite a distance each day – but with plenty of refreshments and rest-breaks.
While guests are out exploring the Kruger on foot, a ground team will be taking down the camp and setting up the next one in a new location, so returning to Camp in the afternoon is always a surprise.
This is the perfect, most unique breakaway for a group of Ladies looking to unwind and relax in nature, with plenty of walking, fresh air, serenity and exciting game sightings, quenching the thirst of those seeking a touch of adventure.
A hiking safari in the wild Kruger Park is best enjoyed during the cooler months of the year, May to October, outside of the rainy season, when the grass is shorter and makes for better walking and Game viewing.
Each day is spent walking through the 8000-hectare reserve, and each night is spent at a fully set up mobile campsite in a scenic location in the wilderness.
This is the adventure of a lifetime for those who want to get to know the Kruger soil and camp beneath the stars. This could be considered ‘roughing it’, as there are no super luxurious elements to the camp, but it is nothing less than comfortable and designed to give you an immersive experience in the Kruger bush.
The walking is easy to moderate in hiking terms. You should be in good health with a decent fitness level.
A maximum of 8 guests (sleeping in 4 tents) are taken on this Kruger walking adventure.
A professional trained guide and tracker team will lead an informative, thrilling, and unforgettable walk in the wild.
While walking in the bush, you will unexpectantly come across a table and chairs with a lovely lunch, cooked for you on an open fire with fresh salads and all the trimmings.
Late afternoon, a lovely cheese platter, snacks and refreshments will be on offer at camp.
A late afternoon walk or game drive completes the daily experience, before a simple yet delicious campfire dinner. A proper bed in a canvas dome tent awaits you with its own separate toilet, bucket shower and warm water.
Glamping at its best!

Hiking in the Wilderness
Hikers will spend 3 days walking through the Maseke / Balule Game Reserve, with plenty of refreshment and rest-breaks. The terrain is rocky but an easy-going hike covering quite a distance.
Star Gazing in the Maseke Balaule Game Reserve
When you return to camp after a long day of hiking, you will settle into the evening under the pristine night sky and observe the clarity of the Milky Way and Southern Cross
Evening Game Drives
When the day is done, we will return to camp and head out in the game viewer in search of nocturnal predators. Game drives will be short and offer the option to view wildlife we might miss seeing while on foot.
