Maseke Big 5 Kruger Walking Safari

Step back into bygone days and experience an authentic walking Safari in Big 5 territory.

Allow yourself to resonate with the Wilderness and Wildlife. Ground yourself and rekindle the art of being instead of doing.

What makes this Bush Breakaway absolutely unique?

This Bush Breakaway is really centred around walking in 12000 hectares of pristine African Bush with the best, most knowledgeable Guides. The landscape is extremely varied with large areas of open savannah, rocky koppies, mopane forests & lovely river beds.

One evening you will be treated to the magical experience of hopefully watching Hippos & Ellies bathing in The Olifants River while sipping a sundowner.

In principle, the hiking takes place in the early morning after Coffee & Rusks. You will leave in a Game Drive vehicle and drive each day to a different part of the Reserve to commence your walk. This ensures that your walks are varied. You will enjoy a Game Drive late afternoon/evening.

Unwind and relax in nature, with plenty of walking, fresh air, silence & serenity. Enjoy the bush and the exciting game sightings  knowing you will return to a comfortable tented Camp with a hot shower, great food and a small cool plunge-pool.

There is a well-stocked Honesty Bar which is very reasonably priced. Should you enjoy a special whisky, Brandy or Gin feel free to bring it along.

Duration: 4 days, 3 nights
Destination: Maseke Big 5 Reserve, Greater Kruger.
Accommodation: Little Ndzuti Tented Bush Camp. The Camp is unfenced.
Includes: All meals, Coffee, Tea & Water. Bush Walks & Game Drives as per the Itinerary
Excludes: Travel to the Camp, soft & alcoholic beverages, and gratuities, Conservation fees (R350 per person / stay)

Your Ladies Only Breakaway hostess is  Judy Meeser, owner of Little Ndzuti Bush Camp.

Bruce & Judy Meeser are legendary pioneers in the South African Safari and Conservation industry, where they started in the early 1980s.

There are many great Rangers and Bush Guides in the Country. However, a good guide doesn’t always make a great Host or Hostess. Under the guidance of Judy, her team will look after you from the early morning with your first cup of coffee to your last glass of wine after dinner.

Many of the team have been with Bruce & Judy for decades, they are experienced, informative, and caring and have an amazing eye for detail, both in and out of the Bush.

The Tented Bush Camp is new and built on the grounds of what was a small private thatched  Bush Lodge. The original structure now functions as a dining room, and bar with an open upstairs lounge area overlooking the bush on one side and the lawn/garden on the other.

There are 4 comfortable Meru-style tents with en-suite bathrooms with showers & flush toilets. The hot water is heated by a central donkey boiler, old technology but very reliable in these days fraught with power issues.

Each Tent has two 3/4 beds with new comfortable mattresses and beautiful linen.

The Maseke Balule Game Reserve enjoys a diverse landscape with deep coves, Mopane Woodlands, prominent mountainous ridges and boulder koppies which characterise the terrain, making it an interesting region to explore on foot and game drives. The reserve is home to the Big Five, plain games and all the little creatures which make the Kruger a unique and wonderful place.

The Maseke is situated in the Greater Kruger, between Hoedspruit and Phalaborwa in the Limpopo Province. It is an 8000-hectare private game reserve, which shares open borders with the Kruger National Park, there is an extra 4000 hectares to explore in the GDP Reserve with a long frontage on the Olifants river.
